Public Policy Management (MSPPM)
The Master of Science in Public Policy and Management (MSPPM) program at Heinz College prepares you to advance the public interest by developing exceptional analytic, quantitative and technical skills.
The program focuses on:
- Policy, management and technology.
- Methods to approach complex and unstructured problems.
- Skills to develop novel solutions to critical social issues.
Through the study of policy analysis, financial management and analysis, project management, and information technology, the MSPPM program provides market-oriented training that is applicable to any policy field in the public, non-profit and private sectors.
Our graduates:
- Analyse data and make effective management decisions using strong quantitative, technical and problem-solving tools.
- Solve complex problems using fewer resources and using technology to work smarter.
- Are strategic thinkers with a solid foundation in project management.
- Look beyond traditional models; looking instead to path-breaking solutions.
- Quickly put newly gained skills into action.
Unlike our competition, MSPPM was developed as a blended policy-business-technology program. We integrate information technology and management into a single degree to build an unparalleled foundation for tomorrow's leaders. This blend of policy analysis, management and IT is reflected in our faculty. We have social scientists studying information revolution issues, management faculty studying policy problems, and IT faculty advising governments on privacy policy and e-government issues.
People who can only analyze may write detailed reports, but they don’t change the world. People trained only in management sometimes lack vision. People unaware of the power of technology cannot be effective in today’s workplace. But people with a balanced foundation in analysis, leadership and technology from Heinz College can best serve the public interest. They will be the change agents, social entrepreneurs and force multipliers who can make a difference wherever they go.
