Study Abroad

As a student attending the campus in Adelaide, the ability to study abroad in Pittsburgh for a semester enhances your educational experience and broadens your personal and professional network. Adelaide-based MSPPM students can apply to study abroad for one semester and enroll in MSPPM courses at the Pittsburgh campus with the Pittsburgh-based students.

The exchange cannot be undertaken during the terminal (final) semester of the degree program. Students enrolled in the three-semester full-time track may only participate in the exchange during their second semester. Students enrolled in the five-semester full-time track may undertake the exchange during a time negotiated with the Graduate Program Manager. You can register for courses with the program director in Pittsburgh to ensure the most valuable study abroad experience.

About Carnegie Mellon and Pittsburgh

Carnegie Mellon's 103 acre campus is located five miles from downtown Pittsburgh. The city offers many activities and resources to students. Off campus, students can take advantage of three culturally-active neighbourhoods within walking distance, the public Schenley Park, urban and suburban shopping and sightseeing, professional sports, museums, art galleries, amusement parks and much more. In addition, the Carnegie Mellon student ID provides access to free public transportation throughout the city.

Downtown Pittsburgh is situated at the intersection of three rivers that are the focus of boating, water-skiing, fishing, rowing regattas, recreation and entertainment. Five universities (including Carnegie Mellon) located within five miles of one another are complemented by an active music and entertainment scene.

The city benefits from a legacy of major philanthropy that supports both cultural organizations and one of the most expansive networks of urban parks this side of the Mississippi River, including the Carnegie Mellon campus. The city also lies within 500 miles of nearly half of the population of the United States. Chicago, Atlanta, Washington, New York, and Boston are all easily accessible from one of the most modern international airports in the nation.
