When new Heinz College students arrive on campus, they are organized into student teams known as “C-Squads.” Each C-Squad is comprised of about a dozen students representing the spectrum of programs, nationalities and backgrounds found at Heinz. The C-Squads are given a series of fun orientation tasks to learn about the college and each other. These collaborative activities continue through the academic year, and we have been pleased to see the new friendships that have resulted from the C-Squads. For many students, these groups have become central to social life at Heinz.
We have also organized the common areas in Hamburg Hall to support student interaction. We’ve created common lounge space (aka the C-squared Café) on the ground floor and located all student lockers there as well to bring students of all of our programs together. Similarly, our third floor space has been converted to project team meeting spaces for all students.
