MSISPM Admissions Requirements

Overview

With an MSISPM degree from Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz College, you'll be among the best and brightest in the infosec arena. While other schools deliver an engineering approach to information security and information assurance, our focus is from a public policy and management perspective. You'll be ready to offer organizations an ample supply of fresh and new ideas to keep them safe.

Our classes are small and diverse. You'll attend classes with students from a variety of constituencies: private corporations, military and government agencies, and undergraduate universities. These students include information systems specialists, corporate managers, junior and senior military staff and a wide range of government employees.

We are looking for students with a passion for information security and its intelligent application. Many of our incoming student’s have relevant IT and infosec work or college experience. They are all interested in curricular and meta curricular learning opportunities.

Because of the quantitative nature our graduate programs, the faculty requires that all incoming students have a solid quantitative foundation prior to enrollment at Heinz College. Since our successful applicants come from diverse academic backgrounds, we offer the Quantitative Skills Summer Program (QSSP) to prepare our incoming students who did not previously complete college-level courses like advanced algebra, pre-calculus and statistics.
