MSISPM Accelerated Masters - Carnegie Mellon University
We offer an Accelerated Master’s Program to qualified Carnegie Mellon University undergraduate students. The program—structured as three years at Carnegie Mellon followed by four semesters at Heinz—results in students receiving both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in less time than is normally required.
Who's Eligible?
Students with a strong academic background who have most of their undergraduate requirements completed are eligible to apply to the accelerated masters program. . Note: The MSISPM program holds an information session in the Fallyear for Carnegie Mellon undergrads interested in learning more about the accelerated masters program. We can also easily put you in contact with current and past AMP students.

Application Requirements
The application deadline is January 10. The application form must be submitted via the online application system by the deadline. Supporting materials sent by mail (if any) must be postmarked by the deadline. Our admissions committee cannot begin reviewing your application until we have received all of your application materials. If space remains in the class after the deadline we will continue to accept applications. Scholarship opportunities after the deadline are limited.
To apply, students must:

Take the GRE (or GMAT).

Fill out an application form (including resume/CV) and the Undergraduate Course Requirements form with advisor’s signature.

Write an essay describing why you want to enroll in the MSISPM program and how it will assist in achieving your future career goals.

Supply an official Carnegie Mellon transcript, along with transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

Provide three letters of recommendation, including two or three from CMU faculty; one of the letters may be from a professional contact – i.e. internship supervisor, hourly position supervisor.

Degree Requirements

192 units are required to complete the MSISPM program

Up to 24 units of undergraduate classes can be transferred while enrolled in the MSISPM program (first year) and are counted toward the required 192 units.*

All of the undergraduate courses should be upper division, and should be relevant to the content of the Heinz College degree. Only undergraduate courses with a grade of B or better may be counted toward the Heinz College degree.

168 units of MSISPM coursework remains to be completed

Recommended coursework in database, programming, pre-calculus and statistics should be completed prior to enrolling in the program. Course grades should be a “B” or higher.

Summer internship is not required, but strongly recommended

Work experience and completed bachelor’s degree requirement are waived for students applying under this agreement.
Financial Aid

Undergraduate students do not qualify for MSISPM financial aid.

Beginning in the fall of their fifth year, AMP students are eligible for MSISPM financial aid in the final two semesters of the program (after completing a bachelor’s degree).
