MISM Chatham University 4+1 Program
Heinz College offers an Accelerated Master’s Program to qualified Chatham University students. The program—structured as four years at Chatham (senior year includes significant coursework completed at Heinz) followed by 2 semesters of courework at Heinz—results in students receiving a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in less time than is normally required.
Who's Eligible?
Chatham University students with a strong academic background who have most of their undergraduate requirements completed are eligible to apply to the accelerated masters program. Students applying in junior year of their study are eligible to enroll in the senior year.
Application Requirements
The application deadline is January 10. The application form must be submitted via the online application system by the deadline. Supporting materials sent by mail (if any) must be postmarked by the deadline. Our admissions committee cannot begin reviewing your application until we have received all of your application materials. If space remains in the class after the deadline we will continue to accept applications. Scholarship opportunities after the deadline are limited.
To apply, students must:
- Take the GRE (or GMAT).
- At least one college level programming course is required prior to applying.
- Fill out an online application form (including a current resume/CV) and the Undergraduate Course Requirements form with advisor’s signature.
- Write an essay describing why you want to enroll in the MISM program and how it will assist in achieving your future career goals.
- Supply an official Chatham transcript, along with transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, regardless of whether credit or degree was obtained.
- Provide three letters of recommendation, including two or three from Chatham faculty; one of the letters may be from a professional contact – i.e. internship supervisor, hourly position supervisor.
- Work experience and completed bachelor’s degree requirement are waived for students applying under this agreement as the design of the program has you entering prior to earning your bachelor's degree

Degree Requirements
- 180 units are required to complete the MISM program.
- Upto 24 units of relevant undergraduate coursework with a grade of B or higher can be transferred while enrolled in the MISM program and are counted toward the 180 units.
- Successful completion of an approved summer internship after graduating with a bachelor’s degree.
Financial Aid
- Undergraduate students do not qualify for MISM scholarship or financial aid.
- At the beginning of the 5th year, students are eligible for MISM scholarship and financial aid in the final two semesters of the program (after completing your bachelor’s degree).
