Across the globe, Heinz College has established a campus in Adelaide, Australia, offering the MSPPM and MSIT degrees. The student exchange agreement between the two campuses will take the form of a "semester abroad" agreement. Students in Australia's MSIT program can apply to study in Pittsburgh for MISM classes; students in Pittsburgh's MISM and MSIT programs could go to Adelaide for classes in their program in MSIT.

For students attending Pittsburgh’s campus, the option to study abroad provides a unique set of opportunities. For students’ attending the campus in Adelaide, the ability to study abroad in Pittsburgh for a semester enhances their educational experience and broadens their personal and professional network. Adelaide-based MSIT students can apply to study abroad for one semester and enroll in MISM courses at the Pittsburgh campus with the Pittsburgh-based students. Students will register for courses with the program director in Pittsburgh to ensure the most valuable study abroad experience.

Carnegie Mellon’s 103 acre campus is located five miles from downtown Pittsburgh. The city offers many activities and resources to students. Off campus, students can take advantage of the culturally-active neighborhoods within walking distance, the public Schenley Park, urban and suburban shopping and sightseeing, professional sports, museums, art galleries, amusement parks and much more. In addition, the Carnegie Mellon student ID provides access to free public transportation throughout the city.

Downtown Pittsburgh is situated at the intersection of three rivers that are the focus of boating, water-skiing, fishing, rowing regattas, recreation and entertainment. Five universities (including Carnegie Mellon) located within five miles of one another are complemented by an active music and entertainment scene.
