HCPM Economics and Policy Track

Students who decide to enroll in the economics and policy track are interested in jobs that will enable them to shape and inform public policy related to health care. There is a need for health care managers to have a greater understanding of the health care market place. This track will provide students with a detailed understanding of private and public insurance, regulation, markets and competition that will help them to understand the broad context through which healthcare is delivered.
Examples of employers interested in HCPM graduates with this type of a focus include:

  • U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
  • U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • U.S. Government Accountability Office (Health Unit)

Students are required to choose 36 units of track courses.
