Your short biography will be shared with PPIA faculty, TAs, staff, and your classmates. It will also be shared with public policy schools interested in recruiting PPIA Fellows for graduate study. It will be posted to our school's website and may be included with other related materials provided to prospective donors and corporate sponsors.

Your biography should include:

• area of interest – domestic policy or international affairs
• description of your past achievements and future goals. Please limit the description to 100 words.

Samuel is achieving his goal of helping others through his work with the InfoLink project. He serves as a teaching assistant and mentor to minority high school students in the Pittsburgh Public Schools, and also provides tutoring and college counseling. Samuel is also the president of the Opportunity Program and Undergraduate Services Student Council that offers deserving minority students academic and financial support to help them reach their college goals. In the future, Samuel hopes to continue helping others through fighting for reform in America’s criminal justice system and policies.

Please complete and return the AP Supplier Electronic Funds (EFT) Form by April 1. This form is required for us to process and mail your stipend. A delay in returning this form will delay your stipend payment.

You will receive an email entitled “Action Required: Your Andrew userID Has Been Created” from it-help@cmu.edu. The email will provide instructions on how to receive your Andrew userID, set a password, and enroll in two-factor authentication (2fa) with DUO, Carnegie Mellon’s multi-factor authentication service provider.  Please be sure to check your spam folder, in the event the email does not appear in your inbox.

If you misplaced or did not receive this email, please email hnzadmit@andrew.cmu.edu and request an "Andrew replacement email."

This is the ID you will use when logging onto the Carnegie Mellon network. You will also need your Andrew ID when submitting your photo online for your student ID card (information below). Please expect to receive your Andrew ID in April.

Our school is committed to helping students maximize their learning in all of their courses during PPIA. 

Students with physical, sensory, cognitive, or emotional disabilities are encouraged to self-identify with the Office of Disability Resources and request needed accommodations.

PPIA Fellows may submit an application for accommodations as soon as they receive their Andrew ID and password (see below). For your convenience, the Office of Disability Resources' staff are happy to meet with students by phone to discuss setting up accommodations prior to your arrival on campus.

Obtain accommodations prior to the start of the program by following the steps outlined on this site.  Select “non-degree student” on your  application.  Please start the process to obtain academic accommodations by June 1 and May 1 for housing accommodations.

Please note this is a requirement by University Health Services for all REU/Go Research programs. If you are an individual from a country with a high risk for TB you are required to provide documentation that you have received proper screening and treatment for active TB. Carnegie Mellon is pleased to offer a tool in Student Information Online (SIO) that gives students the ability to record the preferred pronunciation of their name, as well as provide the phonetic spelling. Through NameCoach, the recorded name and phonetic spelling is then made available for faculty, advisors and others, removing the guessing game of how to correctly pronounce student names.

Students need to activate their Andrew ID before they can access SIO and complete this step.
