U.S. Healthcare at a Crossroads: Greater Competition or a Descent into Monopoly?

Healthcare in the United States produces miraculous cures, the most advanced and effective treatments in the world, while simultaneously producing inappropriate and low quality treatments, exorbitant prices, inequitable and unfair access to care, exploited healthcare workers, and a bewildering and incomprehensible thicket of barriers to understanding and navigating the system. A large part of these problems are due to lack of competition in healthcare markets. In this talk Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter will review what’s happening in healthcare markets and where they are heading, what the implications are for patients, workers, doctors, and our society generally, and discuss what can and is being done to make healthcare markets work for the benefit of all Americans.
