Shelley Ong Teshima currently serves as the Senior Director, Brand Strategy & Marketing at Lean In, Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation.
Coming from a background in marketing and international business studies, Shelley brings 20+ years of experience in developing communication strategies, branded content, and integrated advertising campaigns across a range of multinational brands. At Lean In, Shelley brings together brand and program strategy with creative excellence to develop a range of impactful campaigns and marketing programs that fight for gender equality. Most recently, she helped launch Lean In Girls, a program to help teen girls step into their leadership superpowers.
Previously, Shelley was the Brand & Integrated Marketing Director at Lyft where she oversaw the full company brand refresh, and led a range of complex full-funnel campaigns (Rideshare, Bikeshare, LyftUp social impact campaigns) which effectively proved out the ROI of brand media, and extended across paid, earned, owned media touchpoints.
Shelley also served as the Managing Director at Enso Collaborative, a strategy and creative agency centered around building mission-driven brands that positively impact society. Along with her team, she has built shared value strategies and communication programs for visionary clients like Google, The Nature Conservancy, and Omidyar Network.
Before Enso, Shelley was the Global Account Director at Leo Burnett, where she led the core brand division for Samsung Global, playing an instrumental role in the first global brand creative platform. She also spent seven years working across Australia and Canada on advertising campaigns for Procter & Gamble, Kellogg’s, Telus/Koodo Mobile and local social enterprises and government.
Shelley continues to find opportunities to accelerate social progress through communication design for social ventures and non-profits, including taking a sabbatical to work pro-bono for various NGOs in Southeast Asia. In addition to being an adjunct faculty member at Carnegie Mellon’s MEIM program, Shelley also serves as a returning guest speaker at UCLA Anderson School of Management. She attended the University of British Columbia, earning a double-specialization in Marketing and International Business.
