Admitted Student Open House is an opportunity for newly admitted students to meet faculty, administrators, and current students to learn more about our culture, curriculum, career development services, internship opportunities, financial aid, the City of Pittsburgh, and much more.
Attendees will have the opportunity to join us in-person, online, or a combination of both.- Monday, April 1, 2024 to Thursday, April 4, 2024: We will offer a Virtual Open House with both asynchronous and synchronous sessions
- Friday, April 5, 2024 to Saturday, April 6, 2024: We will offer an in-person program

Accept the offer of admission by completing the online Response Form located within your online admission letter. details

You will receive an email entitled “Action Required: Your Andrew userID Has Been Created” from it-help@cmu.edu. The email will provide instructions on how to receive your Andrew userID, set a password, and enroll in two-factor authentication (2fa) with DUO, Carnegie Mellon’s multi-factor authentication service provider. Please be sure to check your spam folder, in the event the email does not appear in your inbox.
Expect this email 1-2 weeks after you accept the offer of admission. (You must accept the offer through your online admission letter. See checklist item #1 above)
If you misplace or do not receive this email, please email it-help@cmu.edu to request the email be resent.
Your "Andrew ID" is REQUIRED in order to login to university services such as SIO, Canvas, and HealthConnect.Deadline to Complete: Within 5 days of receiving the "Action Required" email

We recommend that students allow ample time for their housing search, moving-in activities, and getting settled in Pittsburgh. It is important that you give yourself enough time to be settled prior to the start of Heinz onboarding and classes.

Heinz College and CMU's Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs will offer Orientation programming to new incoming students.
DATES:- Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs: August 12 - 14, 2024
- Heinz College (MANDATORY): August 19 - 22, 2024
- Additional mandatory programming will occur online in May, June, and July - More information to come
While students are not required to attend the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs Orientation Program (August 12 - 14, 2024), it is highly recommended, as there is content covered that is not available during the Heinz College Orientation. Additionally, the orientation program is an opportunity to connect with other new graduate students from departments around campus.
The Heinz College Orientation program (both online and in-person) is mandatory for all new Heinz College students - Detailed information will be shared later in May.

Heinz College Academic Calendar and CMU Academic Calendar
The Section (SEC) of a course defines the period of time the class will meet.
- SEC A through J = Entire length of the semester
- SEC A1, A3, A5 and J1, J3, J5 = 1st HALF of semester only
- SEC A2, A4, A6 and J2, J4, J6 = 2nd HALF of semester only
